Our fraternity has a wonderful history, which dates back more than three centuries. It is one of the world's oldest secular fraternities, a society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values.
Founded on the three great principles of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth, it aims to bring together men of goodwill, regardless of background, social or religious differences.
For many people who are members of Barr Beacon Lodge, Freemasonry is a happy and interesting activity that allows them to focus on their charitable nature, giving something back by using their talents. If this is something that strikes a chord with you, then read on.
Joining the Freemasons
People might think that to become a Freemason is quite difficult. It's actually straightforward.
The essential qualification for admission is that you have a belief in a Supreme Being.
It is usual for candidates to be mature men of 21 years and over.
Further Information
Please read information from The United Grand Lodge of England to understand more about what Freemasonry is all about.
Suggested Steps
If after reading the information on the Grand Lodge website you decide that you are still interested in becoming a Freemason, we advise that you first talk to a family member, friend or colleague whom you already know to be a member. They will be able to explain further about the fraternity and introduce you to the Lodge.
If you don't know anyone at all who is a member, then get in touch with a Masonic Office in your area. In Staffordshire and the West Midlands this is:-
Provincial Grand Secretary, Provincial Grand Lodge of Staffordshire, 211 Tettenhall Road, Wolverhampton, WV6 0DD.
Write to that office, explaining a little bit about yourself and your reasons for wishing to join.
